hey, i am looking at buying a 320i with a 3.2l m3 engine swap and i was wondering, what (apart from the engine, seats and a few styling features) is the difference between a regular e36 and an m3

M3 always has a limited slip differential. While most regular 3 series have an open differential. This varies depending on where the car is from and the year.

otherwise the chasis of a 3series and an M3 are the same. Differences being what you stated plus suspension on the M3 will be sportier.

but the transmission, clutch, engine mounts, tranny mounts and all that are the same?

he will probably have swapped the tranny as well, since the stock e36 gearboxes won't be able to withstand the torque of the S52
