Hi all, i'm not sure if it's just me but, i have had a few cars in my life and the bmw i have now seems to be the worst for heater controls and fan speeds, im not sure if it's a fault with mine or not, but basically it does seems strange. The car has the following:
-A/C
-Digital Climate Control
When i pump the speed setting to full and only use the front vents it seems the air is only being blown out at the level of a car a manaul control set to about 2!. My mates have other cars and they have also commented, in your opinions is there anything wrong with mine? any checks i can do? or is it just the BMW way. Any help would be greatfully accepted.
Also, I have a strange noise coming from the engine bay at about 3500 rpm, it sounds kinda metallic, like a rattle, but it's the not the engine... any suggestions??
Mine is pretty powerful, have you tried messing with teh air vent adjustment controls? Make sure the RED/BLUE wheel adjuster is on the blue side or it will cut the airflow like you are saying.

as for the rattle, check your wheel bearings and bushings...also, check the exhaust mounting brackets...all these can cause a metallic rattle at certain RPMs...
Mine was a result of bearings...you wouldn't think so, but thats what the dealer replaced and now the sound is gone.

if it's clogged with crap the blower can't get much air past it.

Well the rattle is apparent at stand still as well, not just when moving, so I guess that rules wheel bearing out, it sounds like it's something on the drive belt, but im shit scared to even go near that!

I thought the red/blue just meant hot/cold, it doesn't seem to make any difference what side it's on, the a/c doesn't seem to be that cold either, my mates crappy 1.2 corsa makes your hands freeze in the summer, mine barely cools you down!, any idea on that as well??
