3 beeps from somewhere on driver's side...?

hello,
i just took a 6 hour trip in my '95 325 is and i heard this beeping noise that i've never heard before. it happened about 4 times over the course of the trip, and it was three slow beeps (could have been four). it was definitely eminating from somewhere on the driver's side dash - but it was accompanied by no lights or warnings on the computer. it is not the beeping sound that the computer makes when it has a warning. i've heard that beeping before...

anybody have any idea what this could be?

It's the memo chime from the OBC. You will notice there is a memo button. Press it to make the bell graphic disappear from the clock display. With the memo ON, you will hear three beeps just before reaching the beginning of each hour.

You will also hear the beeps if the temperature dips below 3 C.
