3.5L Engine Swap - BMW Forum

Guys,

I will be replacing my M40 1.8L engine on my E30 1989 with a 3.5L engine very soon. Anyone has gone through this b4 or have any experiance with engine swap issues in terms of suspension, brakes ( I have upgraded to sports suspension "bilstien front shocks, rear sports BMW suspension with non-vented Discs which i think i will be needing a vented ones for sure") if anyone know what to do, get bigger discs with calipers or if there are aftermarket cross-drilled or slotted ones.

I need your thoughts and suggestions

do a search on engine swaps most information will apply to this engine swap as it would with any other 4-6 cly swaps

I am not a big fan of cross-forum links, but this guy did a very good job swapping in a 3.5 M30 into his E30:

i think this might be a little tough...u might be better off investing in a m50/52/s50/s52...but then agian, anything can be done with enough $$$$
