hi all i have 2 questions 1 is a slight problem and the other is a modd. well il ask bout the problem first. i put my foglamps on the other day and now they wont go off does any1 know of a DIY to help fix it cause i dont want to use them all the time. the other question is about angel eyes. i want to add angel eyes to my 318 but cant find a kit where there is just the angel eyes itself. i dont want to buy 1 of the complete headlight kits where they r chrome or smoked cause i dont like them. i am in u.k so they need to get shipped to u.k thanks every 1 for their help early.
about the fogs: check the switch, it may be sticking, check the relay, it more likely is sticking.
If those two don't solve the problem, then there may be a wire that has been rubbed bare and is jumping to something that is providing the lamps with current.
any idea how to remove the switch il just replace it to make life easier. once tryed that if they still wont go off il replace the relay. does any1 know of a DIY write up where i could get instructions to remove it. thanks for the suggestions.
replacing the relay is easier than replacing the cabin switch. You must remove the entire vent cluster on the left including the headlight switch - it's all one unit and requires removal before you can separate the switches from the cluster. There's a screw that holds the cluster in, you just unscrew it from the front and get some leverage on that thing somehow and it pops out.
The relay for the foglights, to my knowledge, is in the fusebox under the hood and just pops out and is just a direct replacement.
here's some pictures of mine, I added a extra really loud horn and added a button underneith the foglight switch that triggers a relay on the passenger side of my engine bay - same concept of what's going on with the foglight switch. Index of /stuff/bmw-forums/train_horn
