My 17" OEM BBS's are looking kinda nasty. They are a 2pc wheel and the 20 studs that hold each wheel together are nice and rusty. Does anyone know if these studs can be replaced? Or would it be harmful to take the studs out, clean em up and repaint them? I've thought about taking the inner sections of the wheels out to and powder coating them.

I think you can take them out. Because i always thought the advantage of a 2 piece wheel was so you could replace the outer piece, incase it got alot of curb rash or something.

you can try replacing them, or you could also try spraying a rust remover on them and cleaning them up with a toothbrush. It would be less work than taking them apart.

They've actually started rusting under the clear-coat or enamel on many of them, so they'll have to be sanded down or blasted I think.
thanks for the replies, I might just call somebody at BBS this summer when I get back home

Yah, that's got to be custom, it's way too brilliant to be stock. I LOVE it. It's so shiny and smooth...
I love the front end on it.

I wouldn't paint the studs because paint likes to chip. In other words, if you paint them, then screw them back in. You think they are tight but the paint starts chipping off and they start rattling loose then your loosing wheels left and right

I also thought about replacing the OEM wheels altogether, but haven't been able to find them anywhere. I haven't seen them on any other car than the other 94 M-techs. I gave bavarian autosport the wheel #, and they didn't have a clue. Does any one know where I could find em?
