I'm new to the site but was hoping some one could point me in the right direction if possible!! I have a 99 T 328i Sport, got into the car Monday morning and the ASC light stayed on, now I've not touched the button or anything and it was working fine on Sunday, just wondering where I should start to look? I've been looking around and it looks like the speed sensors are the first place but I'm not sure what to do with them, like clean them and check for damage I guess?
Also, do you have to get some one at a garage with a diagnostic machine to turn off the light or will it off once on it's own once I've sorted out the speed sensors?
I would get a diagnostics done it can be a number of things that set the ASC light off and yes you do have to get the ASC light put out via diagnostics.

I stepped in a plate of Pasta the other day - now I have to worry about my Carbonara footprint!

You can always purchase the Carsoft 6.5 software & cables off ebay, but you do need a laptop unless you want to carry your home comp to the car!!!, if you do go for it you will find it invaluable for the cost, also I have a downloadable version of the software as the one that comes with the leads sometimes does'nt work. You can read all about Carsoft from google, but purchase from ebay as well cheaper.

Thanks, I have been looking to buy the cables to check myself, is the software easy to understand? Plus is it pretty much fool proof? I can see myself hooking up my laptop and it never working again! lol.

Very easy to use and you cant harm your car, this was written for a 7 series forum I belong too, but its the same for all BMW's models 3,5,6,7,& 8 :
Took it to Quick Fit and they hooked it up but said that there was no fault or they couldn't see a fault on the car!! So I'm going to buy the senors and change them anyway!
