1998 328ic: switch/light question

I just bought a 1998 328ic and have been getting aquainted with it this weekend.
There is a switch next to the dashboard light intensity control(low,left of steering wheel). I can't figure out what it does and there is no mention of it in the manual. It looks factory, any idea? There are also two red led's in the center console between the convertible top button and the asc override button, again nothing in the manual and looks original.
One other thing is the rear window needs replacing, it is the zipper type, Is it a DIY project or better done by professionals?

I checked the service manual for my 98 328i. Those things you mentioned appear to be after market. But one red light on the center console could be for the factory alarm.

next time you lock your car check the red lights, if one or both flash, then it's your alarm. no idea why you would have 2 though.

the switch. you could always open the dash and see what it's hooked up to. it might be a self destruct activation thingy.
