I was just wondering if anyone knows what the part number for the radio from a 1998 323is would be? It is a cassette with 3 buttons on the bottom. It looks like this....
The reason I'm asking is because the display is getting very dim, hard to read at times. I pops when it turns on, sometimes it doesn't com on at all....I'm looking to replace it with a factory radio, we want to sell car but not with a bad radio.
That is a C43 BMW Business Radio. Several different BMW head units will work on your car. The best place to look will be eBay. That is where I bought mine, like new, and it worked great.
BMW lists two part numbers for the radio unit: 65128364944, which was discontinued, and 65128380234, which is the new replacement. I would shy away from buying new, as these units were custom for BMW and thus are very expensive to buy as new replacements. Enough people change out their stock head units that you should be able to buy a used one from a reputable seller online.
If I were you, I would PM MiguelACA, a member here. He is selling a CD43 Business radio that will work on your car, but that has a CD player instead of a cassette player. He is also offering a GREAT price on it.

c33 has a tape player in dash, c43 has a cd player in dash
Not sure about that.......I think c43 is cassette; cd43 is CD player...I'm thinking the c(d)43 was an upgrade and fixed a couple bugs with the c33. Not sure though...
Also, is this unit a Blaupunkt or Alpine? I thought is was a Blaupunkt but all I'm seeing on ebay is Alpine.......
I went to take it out last night, but couldn't get allen wrench to work. I didn't realize until now when I did a search for the radio tool that I might have one. The dealership gave me a BMW tool kit, I'll have to look tonight when my wife gets home.
And, yes, it is Alpine. And, yes, the C43 is tape still, and the CD43 is CD. Did you PM Miguel? I have done transactions with him before and I can tell you he can be trusted.
