1997 328i obc

Hi y'all from Canada,

1> what do you think of the 328 V6?
2> does this car need to change the timing belt or does it even have one?
3> OBC acting up, missing pixels/lines----and ideas on how to fix it?

As you could see I am a NooB, please give some insight, cuz I just bought my 328I with 200,000KMs and the engine still runs strong!

1. It is a IN-LINE 6 not a Veeee 6.

An I6 not a V6.

I am not being sarcastic. Just making sure, that you don't forget again. PEOPLE will laugh.

2. No, it dosen't have timing belt. It has timing chain.

3. You Can't fix the pixles on OBC or any kind of display unit for anything. Your best bet, try to find a used one from Salvage places, junkyard and if no luck, try EBAY. IF all else fails, contact the nearest BMW dealership.

4. 200k is nothing major for your BMW I6

The 328 has an inline 6, its not a chevy. It happens to be one of the sweetest 6's in the world. It has a timing chain that does not need to be changed at the same intervals as other cars. I have no idea what your talking about with regards to the "OBC", what do mean "pixels" and "lines"?

hello windsor. im from toronto. glad to see another canuck aboard.

the OBC can be somewhat salvaged but usually once they go , they go.

your best bet is to buy another if its that important. the only way ive seen it fixed is to pull it all apart and clean it with alcohol. however i dont advise it. just what ive seen.

but all in all whatever , my OBC is shot as well. hahaha

BMW doesn't make V6's, and I'm happy with that........ The I6 engine build is much more efficience than the regular V6 construction.....

No belt, there's only a chain which need no maintenance!
