1997 328i front seat backs .....cushion replacement or recover

my 1997 328i is beginning to show signs of wear to the drivers back seat cushion, up around the shoulder area.

I'm thinking of trying to switch the driver's back cushion with the passenger side's. The Bently manual makes me believe they are the same. The logic here is that the passenger side cushion is in perfect condition.

Question: Does anyone have experience with removing the cushion from the back of the front seats? Same activity as if you were going to have them upholstered.
