Red face 1996 BMW E36 318i ???

It's a 1996 BMW 318i E36 with 270 000 kilometers on it, being sold for $2300 Canadian dollars. Should I go for it? The guy says he has kept up with maintenance and the timing belt is only about 50K old... Let me know if '96 318i are good cars or if I am about to buy a lemon.

So that would be what? 167k miles? Something like that lol. I bought a 1994 318i with around the same mileage as my first car. 5 speed, tan interior, just had minor cosmetic damage. I paid $975 which was a steal since the guy had bought a brand new bimmer and just wanted it gone. Not the same year but it was a fun little car.

The car had oil changes done but the only big thing was he replaced the clutch. The car ran great. The only issue was the horrible water leak that didn't allow me to have anyone in the back seat. But the car got totaled by a Toyota Tundra anyways.

That sounds unfortunate.. Damn pick up trucks. Anyways, thank you for the insight. I'm taking it for a test drive tomorrow.

Welcome to Bimmerwerkz from a fellow Canadian.

For a 1996 $2,300 doesnt seem that bad. Obviously get the maintenance records for the vehicle. Mine has 267,850km on it right now and is still going strong. Prices in the US and Canada are surprisingly different so keep that in mind. We will always pay more for the same vehicle.
