1996 328i convertible

my 1996 328i convertible electric top will not retract i unatch it then push it up about 8 inches all of the windows go down but the rear plastic window will not raise so that means the hard cover boot will not raise any tips .is there any way to take it down manually if i cannot fix it.thanks john

i had my whole top replaced along with the tension straps and it still does something like that ... has to be some kind of adjustment. sorry i cant be more help

if you go on youtube.com there is a guy who does mini films on his 328i convertible.. mine did the same as yours, i disengaged the motors and made adjustment to the lifting parts... its now fully working, although you say you have to lift it 8 inches.. i thought that was normal??

anyone know about the storage bin? mine wont go up

if the storage bin wont open first open and shut your boot lid. as there are micro switches that link the bin lid and the boot opener... again youtube shows a guy manually opening quite safely the storage bin... just type in e36 convertible problems

I am trying to pull up the pdf about "convertible top stick upon opening(going down) after I was logged in and I keep getting error messages. Can someone address this. The verifications I type in are not recognized and since I have only today to work on her car its frustrating

Greetings-

So I just bought my 1996 BMW 328i convertible as a project. I pay attention to detail, and noticed that one of the sides of the top that raises and lowers when the top goes up and down is missing. It is the part that is mounted to the bottom and it looks like two squares when the top is down, I hope I am explaining this correctly. Well it is missing on one side and kind of looks like a broken tooth, does anyone know what this is called or if I can replace it or not? Thanks in advance for any and all help. FYI I am a newbie at this
