1996 328i

I am looking at 328i at 155000 km on it. I am planning on buying this, is there any problems specific to this model year that anyone knows about. Also what year was the first e36 328i introduced.

I believe 93-99.
What year is the car you are looking at? what is the asking price?
Does the previous owner has the service records for the car?
Does the car look abused? (do you see any mods on the car?)

Its a 96 model, I can't get a hold of this guy but the AD said excellent codition. BTW the price is REALLY cheap, but this could because the guy lives way outside of the city.

I am thinking the swap between my car and that would be $1500 canadian extra to me. Which is a BARGAIN .. and my car is 193 K

96 was the first year of the 328. Check the usual common problems section.

I think there's 1-2 years of the 328 that had horrible problems with the head or some other major engine part... I wish I could remember.. perhaps I just jogged some ones memory about it. If not just ignore me, it was prolly a nightmare. But it might be why its so cheap.

The problem your thinking of is the Nikasil issue in which the engine linings wear down and start by causing rough idling which will get progressivley worse until a rebuild is needed. It affected 1996 - 98 cars in the UK but Im not sure about the US. The problem was caused by poor quality fuel.
