1996 325TDS Immobiliser problem

This car was fitted with an engine bought from a second hand dealer and was started and was running ok except for the turbo seal leaking oil. Another turbo was obtained from the dealer and after replacing the turbo the car wouldn't start. The key still opens and locks the car, the ignition lights come on, but the motor won't start. The key has lost it's coding to the CDP module. Is there a way around this problem? Why would a key lose it's coding after changing a turbocharger? Any help would be appreciated . Thanks

OK, no one knows what to do. Towed the car back to the owner. Told him to sell it or burn it.

I am of the opinion that there must have been something you touched(disconnected) that was in the way of getting to the turbocharger when you replaced it. The immobilizer had nothing to do with the turbo... unless maybe u disconnected the battery ;-)

darkhorse737 Thanks. I got the car like this. Someone else changed the turbo. I am not going to fiddle with it. They have just this minute towed it away to another "mechanic" to have a go at it. Like you say, they probably disconnected the battery not knowing the problems it would cause. The battery was flat when it was towed here so there may be something draining it. It's gone anyway, no longer my headache.
