does you car say(ususaly in the trunk) it has been prewired for a BMW alarm?
if not I woudln't count on it just pluging and playing like many of the other 3s with prewired harnesses...
but the central locking should keep it fairly easy. check out stellar alarms.

i did not take my chance on that alarm system.
instead i installed the one with part no. 82 11 1 469 444. perfect for my car. took almost 2 hours to put it all together.
i had previous cars before with alarms that go off if you tap the glass hard or kick on the wheels....
i just find it unusual that my alarm does not... despite the high sensitivity settings (both switches in off position).
is this normal? or am i missing on something?

My alarm is silent unless activated. I think it only goes off when the inside door handle is used after the car has been locked. I have not tried it, but my alarm won't go off from any type of vibration or contact.

stock alarms are mainly just glassbreak. which listens for the sound of glass breaking. not taping or kicking.
the stock alarm also lacks shock/impac, tilt, motion, prox, etc. sensors like many after market ones.
