1995 BMW 325 is leaking fluid - BMW Forum

Hi,

Hi my name is Chad and i'm new to the forum and need some advice as does anyone that owns a older car .. So anyway i just bought a sweet 96 beamer with 150k one owner. Car has coilover suspension 06 m3 wheels and is clean as a whistle. Sounds like a happy guy right.. Yesterday i parked in a different spot and noticed oil on my driveway. Sweet had the car 3 days. Put it on the lift and i believe tranny oil is leaking..Do i have to remove the tranny to fix this or is there a temporary fix i could do with gasket sealer? Its not that big of a spot but its big enough to make a mess. brand new driveway so bummed. Tranny had a few clunks as well shifting but seems like its when i went from m to auto. Almost like it has to relearn its shift points. Thanks for any help.

Have you been under the car? Is the leak coming from the top of the gearbox? If it is, There is an inspection plate on top which has a gasket, this may be failing...
Another angle could be that the engine is losing oil from the rear of the cylinder head and running down the gearbox...
You may have already established where it is coming from but have a real good look and get back to me...
BTW top up the gearbox mate.
