1995 BMW 318is tail light not working

Hello,

I am having problems fixing the left rear tail light on my daughter's BMW. I have checked the fuses and replaced the bulb. There is power to the wiring harness, but there is no power around the metal grid that surrounds the tail light bulb. All other lights in that fixture work (brake, reverse, turn signal).
I am at a loss. I even purchased a used tail light assembly thinking maybe something was wrong there, but it does the same thing! I need to get this fixed so I can get there car inspected.

Any suggestions?

Got to be poor connection just before the cluster, so test and inspect the plug and look at the grid that distribute power to the bulb... If all seems ok then maybe run a wire from the other working side !!
