1995 325is exterior door handle problem - BMW Forum

The drivers door handle will lift and feels normal but will not open the door. Before it completely stopped working it did act as though it was in a bind when lifting then it opened door. I have found some disassembly instructions for the exterior handle mechanism, but do not know what to replace. Can someone help with this?????

huxxca: post this in the e36 section I belive their are a few others in there that are having a similar problem. Oh and

search the posts. I and others have posted on this problem before. From what you are describing, it sounds like you will have to replace the handle assembly which is actually done from inside the door >>>>major pain<<<<. It isn't extrememly hard, for an average do it yourselfer but it is frustrating and time consuming. If you don't feel completely comfortable with doing it, take it to a trustworthy shop.
