1994 325i rattle

I just bought a 1994 325i and drove it home 8 hours. The first six were without incidence. We then noticed a rattle in the back of the car sounding like it was coming from the left back wheel or trunk area. We unloaded everything from the trunk and it still made the noise. Does anyone have any ideas.

If it's an occasional "clunk, clunk" when you hit a bump (or back out of your driveway), it might be the rear shock top mounts. I had a similar noise in my '93 325i. It turned out to be the rear shock top mounts (33 52 1 132 104 H/D Cabriolet Spec). I replaced these, the rear shocks (33 52 1 138 158) and the rear shock bump stops (33 53 1 136 395) and the rear suspension is as good as new.

No more noises.
