1994 325i auto (tranny issues?)

so the RPMS go up and the car doesnt go into gear when in D. but when i use 1,2,3 it runs fine. sometimes it will rev a bit before it goes into gear. Does this mean i need a new tranny? also my display center does not work anymore, i checked fuse and it was good. Any ideas? thank you sorry for the noobie questions.....

Alright so i took it in to a shop next to where i work and they did a tranny flush. They replaced the filter which was really dirty, and all the fluid, The car runs great now, no more issues shifts real smooth..... hope this helps you bud
