Hi I'm new to this forum, plus a new owner of a 94 325is.

Got a couple of questions that I hope I could get some advice on.

Especially in the cold, how long should I let the car warm up to before I drive it?

The car blows out some funky smell when the AC or heat is on. Any idea what it may be and how to get rid of it?

My left blinker works on the outside but not on the inside. Any idea how to fix that?

welcome to the forums

opinions differ for idle time, me personally (and i live in toronto canada), is to let it warm for about a minute than drive it lightly, meaning dont gun it. i try to keep the revs below 2800 for a good 5 minutes. than slowly start to drive normally when the needle starts to creap towards the warm mark. BMW canada actually says to warm for 10 seconds then drive.

as for the smell, im not certain what it could be , but depending on how long the car sat, it could be from that alone. beyond that i dont have any advice to guide you on this maybe someone else will.

you blinker light issue is gonna be a bulb that needs replacing. you need to take your gauge pod out and replace the proper bulb, check the faq forum for how to remove the gauge cluster.

Our cars are not meant to sit and idle up to operating temp. For extreme cold starts (25F and under) it is recommended you let it it idle for 30 seconds before driving. Then during the warm up period do not exceed 3000 RPM until it reaches oper. temp. (half way on the temp gauge).

As for the smell from the vents I would change the micro cabin air filter. Search "micro filter" and im sure there is a write up on how to change it.

The inside blinker you mean on your cluster? If so you are going to have to remove it and replace the bulb for the blinker behind the cluster. Heard it's a pain to get out if you don't have a tilt steering wheel (which very few of us do).

i let my bmw sit for a min or two before igo drive it, and then as furious stated dont rail on her right away. just like you shouldnt rev a cold engine. As for the smell its pretty common for the e36 i hear about it alot... never really have seen a solution for it... but mine tends to do it sometimes but then goes away... as for the light change the bulb and make sure you follow the directions for taking out the guage cluster
