| The odometer is actually a backlit LCD, when it dims you just need to replace a couple of bulbs in the back of the cluster. Takes about 10-15 minutes to pull the cluster, which is the hardest part of the job, but E36 clusters can be pulled without removing the steering wheel so its just a matter of undoing the screws in the top of the cluster, wiggling it forward far enough to slip your hands behind and unlock the wiring connectors and sliding it out between the dash and steering wheel. The bulbs are just a twist fit onto the back of the circuitboard, but while you have it out you may as well check them all. |
