1994 318i help?

Please help if you can, I am at a loss. I have a 1994 318i with the m42. I have replaced the fan, clutch fan,MAF and both water temperature switch sensors below the intake, yet I still have the check engine light, hard first start. I have implemented the stomp method to retrieve the error code and always get the code (1223) water temperature sensor. ant help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Big Joker

Code 1223 is Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Thank you Lord Vader, that was the one sensor I have not replaced. Ill try that one. I was led to believe it was the one's in the head for engine coolant sensor. I'll post and let you know sir. Thank you

Well, I replaced the temp sensor on the radiator. Still have the exact same issue. I am wondering if, when they replaced the motor they switched the wires and misplaced one of the water sensor wires with the oil temp wires. They are coming from the same harness and appear to be the same type of phoenix connector, and at the same location. Unfortunatly, now the motor is extremely too hot to deal with so I'll try it tomorrow, I guess. wish me luck. If anyone has another idea, I'm open. Thank You

Ok, the Ol'girl is running beautifully now. The wires from the oil filter sensor and both the engine sensors were all crossed. Apparently the mechanic that replaced the motor had an apprentice working with him,(at least I hope it was a dillitaunt and not a certified mechanic). Once I rewired the plugs the car is running great and no more check engine lights on. Nice 100 mile road trip with my beautiful wife with the top down. Thank You for your help.
