1994 316 new dme. straight swap??

Ive removed the ecu from the above car to find it pretty badly corroded due to water ingress. ive cleaned it up and dried it out but this hasnt made any difference. its still only sparking on two cylinders so it wont fire up.
I know its a long shot but is it possible to put another second hand ecu on it provided its the same type without having to programme it to the car?

For the record the DME's on earlier models without the ews immobiliser system you can swap ecus as long as it is the exact same number. I tried a 318 ecu on a 316 and it did fire up but ran like a bag of shit. I eventually found the correct ecu and its fine now!
