I have an identical car - '93 325is - with similar mileage. I would suggest:

- Cooling system: ask when was the last time they changed the waterpump and radiator. These fail and will leave you on the side of the road. On my car the heating core also failed, and even though it was fairly cheap part, due to its location behind the dashboard I paid about $500 for labor.

- Clutch: normally this is about the mileage you would have to change the clutch on a manual car. I would not buy an automatic, though, they are slow and boring.

- Shocks: I just changed mine his past weekend. The front ones were busted, so I just changed all four and the springs as well (Koni adjustable + H&R springs). If the car has the original shocks, plan to change them soon.

- A/C: If the a/c has not been recharged lately, it may need a convertion to the new refrigerant. This is expensive (about $1,000). Ask about it.

Good luck!
