Hi, I have a 1992 325IS and I am having the following problems:

1) When the car is started, the transmission light comes on (the little orange gear). This puts the car into limp mode so the gears do not shift correctly (the car only stays in 4th gear or someting like that). This problem can be solved by starting the car, shutting it off, removing the key, and starting it once more. If you do this, the transmission light does not come on and the car runs fine. You also do not have to start the car all the way, you can just turn the key until it is 1 notch before a complete start just so the audio and lights etc are on, turn it off and remove the key, and then start it completely. So basically the car always starts in limp mode but if you turn it off and on again then the problem is resolved.

2) The windows only go down a step at a time. What I mean by this is that if you hit the button to make the window go down, the window will drop about 1 inch and then stop. You then have to release the button and press it once more which will make it drop another inch. So you have to press the button like 10 times to make the window go down fully. This is true for both windows.

3) Lastly the sunroof only opens at certain times. When the car is first started the sunroof usually doesnt work however after driving the car for a while it works fine.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what he problem could be and/or how to fix it? It seems that they are related since its an electrical problem but I have no idea how.

Thanks
-Danyal
