Yes, it will fit, rubbing is another issue, there are a lot of variables to play with. What struts you're using (coilovers, etc), wheel offset, tire width, ride height. You'll need to roll your fenders though, I can guarentee that.
Here is a pic of my car when I used to have 19's on it. The front was 19x8.5, the rear was 19x9. The tires were 235/35/19. And yes they rubbed at that height. The rear more then the front.
(sorry for the large image)

The body kit is a Racing Dynamics K.55 kit, the clear corners are just european OEM BMW corner lights (actually all the exterior lights are euro spec, minus the fogs).

Ive got 19"s on my 1998 328is and I have no probs with rubbing.
But I am running 19/8 instead of the 8.5 I think that 19's look cooler on the car even though you loose a little performance.

A little performance?
The difference from my 19's to my 17's are like day and night. The the 19's with tires weighed almost 60lbs, the 17's weigh 40. That is 20lbs per tire, that is a huge difference. It was definately noticable, especially when accelerating hard in first and second.
