Im not a big advocate of going to the dealer... There is one thing however that I HIGHLY suggest everyone get done- fuel injection cleaning. Apparently they use compressed air and shoot highly concentrated detergent through the fuel system. Then they add a bottle of their injector cleaner. End result was amazing.. The result i would compare would be when I first put in my JC chip- that same kind of boost improvement. When reving the engine you can see all the black crap being spit out the exhaust that the cleaning broke apart. Definitely worth the $159.99, my car feels like it running at it full potential once again..
I always run 93 octane and have used 3 bottles of chevron techron within 10,000 mi of driving. The compressed air method by far surpasses adding techron after oil changes. I told this to the service advisor and he said he guarentees that I will notice a huge improvement- he wasnt lying.. Everyone should have this done

Fuel Injection cleaning doesn't need to be done ONLY at the dealership.
Dealers use a machine. As long as the place you take to has that machine, yields the same results.
Furthermore, FI cleaning doesn't add [HP] anything if your FI system is already clean to begin with. If you saw HUGE difference in performance after the FI cleaning, that says a lot about how the car was taken care of [prior to the cleaning].
That being said, I do recommend the FI cleaning. Just clarifying few things about FI cleaning.

Your right, it doesn't add HP..it restores HP. And I guarentee if your car is around or over 100K mi you will benefit no matter how clean you think you FI system is. My car was taken great care of- no burning or leaking of oil. Original clutch. Paint is mint for a 1993. Just hitting 137K mi..This was prolly the first cleaning of this kind my car has ever seen and I bet a lot of members have yet to do this. Even if you have run FI cleaner (like I did for the past 10,000 mi), you should see a great benefit..

If the highest is 94 would that not damage the car? mine has a sticker on the fuel meter that says min 95 octane. I think everything e36 and after has that no?
Plus you can't get anything less than 95 here in the UK or in Europe for that matter. The best place is italy. The Shell optimax there has 99 and believe me i did notice a little difference between that and the normal 95 one.
P.S. Sorry for the stupid qustions i am just curios?
