will it work?

i came across a 90 325i
auto, 186k, good shape
owner says the tranny "makes loud noises" between 15-35mph
but everything else is fine
i have a 86 325
stick, crashed
wanted to know if the transmission from my 86
would bolt rite up to the 90 325?
dont wanna waste my money if it wont work
thanks in advance

yes, the early transmissions bolt right up to the late cars but the late trans doesnt bolt right up to the early motors because its missing the holes for the crankshaft sensors...

The newer manual shifter housing will not mount to the older transmission, it used a metal plate, it can be made to work with some effort.. If it's an auto, some of the later transmissions had electronic valve trains.
