Question Why does my car die when it's cold?

Can anyone tell me why my 1990 325i dies after I start it? It only happens when it's cold outside too. It idles funky then dies when I put it in gear? (car is an automatic) Is this damn car tempermental like a diesel? You know you have to let the glow plugs get warm before driving or it'll die.used:

mine does that to sometimes, i mean with any car you have to let it warm up before you start driving it...and think about it how old is your car?

It needs time to get the jucies flowing

Yeah believe me I know. It hates cold weather. When it's warm out I never have problems. Now that we have 32 degree mornings my car is a real bitch. It died on me when I backed out of the driveway this morning. Had to have fiancee's teenager push it back into the driveway for me while I flooded it upon trying to restart it. Hence smashed the gas pedal all the way to the floor and cranked the crap out of it.

how long do you let the car warm up before attempting to drive? i mean my old honda spent night after night outside during the winter, and was ready to drive immediately after turning it on.

you're in TEXAS no sympathy man

empathy maybe
