white smoke when cold

hello,
what are possible reasons for my 87' 325i to blow white smoke when cold only. when the car warms up, it works fine. can it be too rich mixture or bad head gasket or the valve cover??

go get a fuel system cleaner. Doesnt need to be the most expensive, most do their jobs the same. Usually what that is, is just oil that has settle on the piston heads and cylinder walls and gets burnt and blown out at first. The fuel cleaner will usally clean out the gunk on valves and injectors and whatever so no oil accumulates.

i did put in a bottle of fuel cleaner and could just feel a little difference in power... also changed spark plugs today and it runs much better cos the guy before me just didnt take care of it...
but i will probbaly try to put in one more bottle of fuel cleaner and see what happens... is it better to take the car on a freeway for the cleaner to work better or just drive around??

nice to hear that your car is back up and running! dont ya love it when you do little tuneups and you feel some Hp get free due to it!

You should do run your engines at different speeds.. Go up and down to the redline at a moderate speed. Vibration loosens junk and helps clean.
Did the white smoke stop?

well i have tried to run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and also put in a bottle of octane boost later time to maybe help clean up the chambers a little but i still see white smoke.... hmm it seems that after i start the engine (totally cold) it doesnt blow any smoke at first for maybe 10 seconds and only after that when i press the gas pedal starts blowing. it smells very rich...

anyone has any idea i can try or that explains this??
