get 16's. They will look the best when you lower your car. Go on m42club.com and r3vlimited.com and register and look in the wheels/tires for sale section, and get a good used deal.
And please don't cut your springs!!! cutting springs is a very non-BMW thing to do! you can get used after market lowering springs also from these forums, and brand new ones aren't that expensive, only around $200. I would recommend H&R sport springs.
