wheels and rims questions

looking to get some new rims for the 325e 1985. is this going to include needing to lower or cut springs on car. i never have gotten new rims. the car has 14" on them now factory stock. im looking at some BBS wheels or if anyone has suggestions im open to them. not looking to spend to much but want some 16-17" rims to replace. just so the rim and wheel well are flush, no gap. just need to be educated in what to expect in buying new rims, and if its possible. i know i need the rims and new tires. but anyhow, and guidance will be aprreciated. thanks

get 16's. They will look the best when you lower your car. Go on m42club.com and r3vlimited.com and register and look in the wheels/tires for sale section, and get a good used deal.

And please don't cut your springs!!! cutting springs is a very non-BMW thing to do! you can get used after market lowering springs also from these forums, and brand new ones aren't that expensive, only around $200. I would recommend H&R sport springs.

to add to this, i just cut the front springs on my 91 318is, and it hasnt hurt anything yet. but i wouldnt recomend doing it because its kinda hazardous... if your car has a 4 lug/bolt pattern i have some 17's for sale. they need rubber tho and they are used... if youre lookin at new rims i'd try tsw's thats what i have on my volvo right now and they look great!!! although i have to say i think that some 16's with 215/45/16 tires would look the best on that car. just a thought. if you have any questions about cuttin springs just let me kno, but seriously i wouldnt do it if you can get lowering springs...
