well, its been 7 months and my wheel bearing is making a humming sound when i move.
i am pretty sure because the dust cap had a hole in it( like from a screw driver) and i put some tape over it, but know im ready to check the bearings.
also; when im turning (say and on-off ramp at higher speeds)
-it goes away when i turn RIGHT, turning right its quiet and normal.
-and left it stays (not as loud but still present).
-straight i hear it humm..over 10mph
1.is this a thing where i should have a Pro accomplish?
2.or have any shadetree mech's done just fine.
2.5.while im doing this, shall i change the 4 lug into the 5 lug? it reads easy but im really not sure?
i did lower it by cutting (4"grinding) them off at the bottom.
tires wear evenly and all seems just like original, i didnt slam it to the ground i just took out 2 coils = 1.2"inch
ive done this before with my conv. toyota and was difficult, had to torque a nut(over did it, and squished the first set, but i did it twice.
3.are the bmw's special?
4.or especially difficult?[attachmentid=16188
5. also the guy at my local auto supply says i cant just buy the bearing and axle nut , that i must buy the whole hub assembly?
6. do i need a whole hub assemble? or
7. can i just buy the parts online here
