whats up with my e30 it shakes like a diesel at idle?
whats up with that? when the 325e idles it idles at 700 rpm like normal and pretty steady but the car shakes a little on idle. i mean i have driven diesel trucks before and know it is norma for a diesel to shake.but i think it is not like a gasoline engine to make the car tremble on idle. motor mounts! is popping in my head do i have to change em whats up?and if i do how much and is it diyable?
What fuel did you use? My little black 316i doesn't seem to like anything under 98 octane (unleaded), and when I tried filling her up with 95 octane the engine started shuddering in idle and later-on in accelaration. Or it could be the ignition wiring or rotor.
Your 325 should idle as smooth as a Kittie. If does not first check the engine for vacuum leaks (spray starting fluid on all the intake hoses and intake manifold) check for a dead fuel injector of spark plug by removing each plug wire one at a time. (wear rubber gloves or get knocked on you butt) lastly, if all else fails, do a complete compression test. You could have a burnt valve or lifter that is too tight. Don't forget the obvious, bad wires, rotor and plugs. Make sure the plug gap is correct too. Good luck!
i am having that same problem my car shakes on idle. I am going to inspect the plugs and change them and check the wires. What kind of test could I do to check the wires and injectors plus the fuel pump? something about...taking out the injector or something. about the testing of the fuel pump. i think you can disconnect the fuel pump and you will hear a noise.i am not sure if i can get some details i will be glad.
