What Size Exhaust? What Type Of Exhaust?

OK I own a 91' 318iS...im going to get an exhaust soon, and i dunno what size i should get the tubing in, and what size to get the tip in...and i also dont know weather or not i should get a striahgt pipe or keep the cad converter and shit on it..plz help i dont wana get a shtty exhaust on mi caro :-/

Hey man,

What do you want to do with your car. Are you going to make a auto-x or a daily driver or what. This should really determine what type of exhaust you get. Are you thinking about getting a custom exhaust built or what. On our 325i race car we run custom stahl headers out to a straight pipe system (no cat very minimal mufflers). So what you do with your exhaust depends on some things first off do you want to make a race car or a daily driver or a street machine also do you have emissions where you live. If you could give me some details i could most likely help you out.

well while the forum thread is open - I'll say I'm looking for a new exhaust as well. Atm I don't care about my exhaust, because when I get all the parts together I'm doing a m10 to m20 conversion. However I will be interested in a custom exhaust for that. I do not have emissions in kentucky, I am interested in a street car / auto-x car daily driver. I don't have a radio so noise isn't much of an issue -however I don't want it so loud that I can't carry on a conversation in traffic. I would like it to not sound like a honda (anymore... rusted exhaust beyond 4k rpm's = CRX + fart can.) and I don't want some 52" chrome exhaust tip draging over every damn bump I go over. So I mean I Know that muffler tips are interchangable I'm sure, but anyhow. Just wondering.

in terms of a muffler i would go with the Bosal Brospeed Muffler. Sound Great and aggressive and is a performance booster.

Dude ickshnay on the Brosal...that is the uggliest muffler i have ever seen by FAR not to mention they are not a very reputable brand to my understanding...
