What Does This Light Mean?

on a 89 325i the check light is blinking and above the rear veiw mirror the brake light is on but its the upper left one and it says brake with some kind of symbol next to it, looks like a ! in a circale.

That likely means one of the brakes lights is out

actualy i believe that means that your brake pads are worn out or your ebrake is on i can't remember which.

you have a brake light out, the ! in a circle is just a reminder to check your brakes before you take off, the brake light on your active check control should come on every time you start your car until you push the brakes once, and then it should go off, but if not then you have a light out

however, there is an active brake sensor in your pads than turns on a light when they get too low. it took me a week to figure that out just after i bought the car. Wire had busted and turned the light on. Spliced the two back together, light went out.
