I didn't know what that meant, so he showed me: he had the crankshaft exposed and he pressed a screwdriver between the rods and pushed the crankshaft back and forth by maybe 10 mm. The crank, apparently, is NOT supposed to move horizontally at all. He showed me a spot where there should have been a journal bearing, and the apparent lack thereof on this engine. The whole crank was being replaced along with all new bearings.

Not yet, and hopefully not ever, and the overall percentage is pretty low. The percentage with "6 bolt" motors (89-92) is probably less than 1%.

that relives me, and i would guess its more likely to be mobile 1 oil( notice that at least 2 of those cars had the same oil and was kept up maticulously.

also maybe from the turbos,
the high twist from the sideways engine (i think its sideways, my friend owned a 95 talon (with all wheel drive and turbo) great car, but he had some probs too.

mostly with the turbo, but thats all, there great rides, safe fast and responsive. however when it rained we couldnt get half the clarity i get in my datsun or bmw...or volvos ...

iknow besides the point, i have a habit of runnon off at the fingers , i will be more focused frfom now om... :P
