valve adjustment?

I think mine could definitly use a valve adjustment. Im thinking it would quite the engine down a bit. Anyway...just waundering how much I should expect to pay for this and did you have the dealer do it?

I did it myself took about an hour due to engine is hot when doing it. It's possible to do it cold but hot method is better due to being more accurate.

And yes it will quiet down the engine immensely.

I hate to troll a previous posting, BUT.

Valve adjustment is best done stone cold. overnight is best.

Noise from the valves is not a bad thing.

No noise from the valves means the valve is held open during cumbustion and the valve is being consumed. Noise means there is a gap and the valve can go closed.

The big issue on valves is to have them all at the same setting.

If they are too loose the cam will not open the valve to max horsepower possible.

Loose and the same setting, will not affect performance except for WOT, wide open throttle.

Valve adjustment is part of the major tuneup, so plugs, secondary wiring, and cap with rotor are also suspect.

I don't work on cars anymore. I did it alot when I had a Porsche and I just don't have the will or the time for it anymore.
