Hello. I recently did an engine tranny (automatic) swap from an 87 528e to an 86 325es. When I turn the key, absolutely nothing happenes. I have radio, headlights, all that stuff. The Neutral Safety Switch from the 5 series has a total of 10 wires (9 + 1 extra one), and the one from the 3er has 5 wires. I kept the shifter from the 5 series because it felt so much nicer ( It has the linkage instead of the bar). But even when i jumper the green/black and blue/white wires it still wont start.

Do you have power to the ignition switch? If you do, then the problem is a little beyond me, but good luck. If you have power at the switch, check your starter relay, and also the starter solenoid.

Two wheels or Four, I'm happy as long as the throttle is pinned.
If I remeber correctly, the 3er's switch operates a rod at the base of the column, there' should be a small detent at the base, with an electrical connection. (I think) If that's the setup, then you shoud be able to test there.

Well i figured it out. It was one of the brand new fuses i bought (#9) was broken. I guess thats the one that makes your car start. Anyway it startes now, but it sounds really "airy" if that makes sense.
