I'm gonna say it's a structure reinforcement that compensates for the roofless iC and the drive forces in the front of the iX.

the wheel base on the E30 325iC and 325iX is 6" longer than hardtop rear wheel drive E30s. That extra 6 inches makes them look like a cross between the 3 and the 5.....a 4 series, if you will.......

You're right, not all E30 2.5 'verts have that deck lid badge. Maybe the distinction is the same as with the 325i and 325is.

The question is how many have 325ic? I've never seen one myself that the badget itself was factory.. the IC part is the internal bmw designation for the chassis but I have only ever seen 325i on an e30 vert.

on the heels of this...designation...I sold...after many solid years of service...last year in New Mexico my 1986 635CSi...I dig the 635 part, what does CSi mean? I have heard several different opinoins on this one
