a tough (or maybe not) decision

hi everyone... im pretty new to the forum... i work at a used car dealership that sells some bimmers. well recently we came across a 84 325e at the auction for $1200. it has 177,000 miles on it. i can have it for cost which kicks @$$! it seems to run really good though it needs a tune up. but im trying to decide if i want it... is 177,000 a lot for this car? how long do they usually last? the other thing it says it is an M series. is that even possible or did someone think it was cool to throw the M tag on it lol. and how much do they cost generally to maintain? the car is so sweet and incrediblly clean... no evidence of any accidents. what else should i check out on it to know if it is really a good car? any help would be greatly appreciated... and the sooner the better bacause there are some people coming down to look at it...

That isnt that much at all. E30 and E21 chassis BMW's are very reliable in terms of milage if you maintaine them well. My car has 206k miles on it, and it runs like a champ, and there are many other members with BMW's whom their cars have a few hundred thousand miles on them, and they still do very well.

So 177k isnt that bad at all. you should check out the Considering Buying an E30 thread that is pinned to the top of this forum.

thank you much.. i thought someone put that there. i actually did check out the post pinned to the top of the page. i had checked all those things already. i was thinking more along the lines of like common problems that go wrong with these types of cars that i should look for.i i should prolly have a mechanic do that... im still just learning the trade. thanks again.
