well i finally fixed my 325is for good. this weekend when the transmition began slipping and reverse quit i finally got fed up with all the crap this little car has put me thru. ya i know for the 200k plus miles on it ( how many exactily i dont know, the odometer quit 3 years ago, and i had been driving back and forth from dallas to detroit twice a month for a while) it has been a good car. all good things come to an end. too many things to fix all at once lead me to the local auto plex. there i laid it to rest. sleep well little car. traded it off for a new dodge truck. the rack needed to be replaced, the struts and shocks needed to be replaced, it had massive electrical failures, the ac worked sometimes. it would lock its self at the most inopertune times. the gebo was bad the tie rod ends were shot. but all in all it ran good. a true test of german engineering. it could still move. i paid $1500.00 for it. hope someone picks it up and makes it there project car.
BTW, Make sure you get the extended warranty, I'm not bringing any hate, but I've already been rebuilding transmissions and changing the motors in newer dodges. An extended warranty will cover your rear in case deffication occurs. I had a 05 hemi that threw a rod that was in the shop last week. Not to mention that 16 spark plug v8 with plug wires that crisscross the intake makes for one hell of a tune up expense, and still doesn't get better than 20 mpg down hill with a tail wind.
my dealer offered in addition to the manfactures warranty, a full lifetime warranty as long as i keep the sceduled maintence with them. it covers "everything" yes i took it
crazy, my E30 has 330k miles on it now and it runs like a champ...weird
sounds like the maint just fell behind at some point with the bimmer...dodge trucks are awesome, i had a 99 Ram 2500 turbo diesel and i put almost 200k miles on it with almost no work, the tranny was recalled and replaced, but i was towing with it all the time, ended up selling it to my dad....
