JoeM is correct... it's computer controlled and you really shouldn't f with it! Advancing the timing without advancing your fuel curve will only cause damage. Not the mention it's an ETA, it wasn't meant to be a performance motor and really isn't suited for performance upgrades. A chip is about the best thing you can do to get a little more go outta your economy car although you will then have to run premium and keep in mind that you still have a 4500rpm redline. HP= Torque x RPM You do the math! Sorry JoeM.... no hard feelins!
dude what timing are you guys talking about? Injector pulse timing? That's about all that the computer controls on the M20 series engines. Distributor....

hahaha its fine, you just dont know about my old Eta that would rape E30 M3's lol
but in most cases you are right, the M20 all together is a terrible engine for modding for big power...

No, a geo 3cly is a terrible motor even think about making hp, a pontiac 301 turbo v8 is even worse. An M20 turbocharged have made numbers well in the 400hp range with 10sec 1/4 time slips, rather respectable even when it's considered an "economy" motor.

true but not worth it for the money, with even a M50 its much more atainable, sorry should have made myself more clear. I have personally driven 300+hp M20's but its just not the best way to go about it
