Recentlly purchased a 82 320i 3 months ago and have had no problems until now. I cleaned my battery terminals with bakeing soda and water and failed to notice that the solution had dripped on to my alternator ground wire and eventually ate through it. When I figured out what I had done I had to do a quick fix and tape/ mount it back on to the starter and it started right up. Thinking that I could wait until the weekend to do it right. Wrong! As I was driving down the freeway my RPM gauge and oil temp gauge started jumping like crazy and then a small pop was heard and the car died. I checked the ground wire again but to no avail. I have since relacped the coil and bypassed the feul relay but the car wont start. I am at a loss and miss driving my car. I am open to sugestions and ideas. Thank you to all.
