Okay, Tach, gas, and Coolant guage stopped working in my 89 325iS, any clues? my mech said that it was the service board or something, but those are like 179$ at bavauto. And I dont really wanna pay that. My speedo still works which is good, but according to that 'fuse 21' thread, all schnieder did was put in a new fuse. does anyone know which fuse I woul dhave to replace? or what I would have to do to get my ish working again?
thanks,
dan

If you cannot read the numbers on your fuse box cover a simple multi meter and a few minutes will identify which fuse is bad. Does the fuse blow when you put the car into reverse, 1st, 3rd or 5th? The wires from the reverse light switch in the tranny run through the same hole as the shifter and in some cases with a worn shifter and linkage enough play is in the mechanism that it will short the wire causeing selected guages to go out. Apparently the reverse light swith and some guages are on the same circuit. It took me about 2 weeks and 20 fuses to realize what was causing my guages to die.

MUAHAHHHAHAHA, FIXED IT! WOOT, so much cooler, Ive been running with no tach for like 2 months now, I can handle it, but its just nice to see where the RPM's are at in the canyons.
Though I know where the RPM's are at certain MPH, its still nice to be re-assured.
