stupid question time

I have just got an 87 e30 convertible.

I cant seem to get the compartment (that the hood folds into) open.

The guy who I bought it off did it twice whilst i was there but for the life of me & about 5 mates we cant get it open.

I turn the catches at the front, lift the front of the roof up. Then lift the back up.
Then I pull the lever inside the car which fully releases the compartment on the drivers side but only semi releases it on the passengers. The guy told me there is a safety catch just inside the compartment on the passengers side, which releases it but I cant find it.

Can anyone help or give me a site that may help!!!!!

Get a cordless or cell phone, give the guy who sold it to you a call while you're in the car and have him guide you to the safety catch.

imo, that would be the easiest way to get this done.

or, run it by the dealer or a bmw shop.

Is there anyone out there with this same model that can help out?

Hola, I have a stupid question as well, so I thought I'd post it here. Is a 7 or 9mm (I think thats the kit that bavauto.net sells... is it .net? Blah.) wire going to intensify the spark in my plugs so much so that it might damage my pistons? I'm wondering because I've heard some people talking about the spark being too hot. If not, I'm tempted to try and find a cheap set of NGK or something... Also, I read in the book on our cars, but I don't know what "light alloy rockers with cill-cast pads and overhead camshaft" means. Just that my cam sits in an OHV position I guess. Does that mean I have solid lifters? I bet it doesn't have anything to do with the lifters, but does anyone know if a 1985 318i would have solid lifters? I need to find out, suckas! It'd be neat if we did. Man, I gotta get some photos of my car. I'm gonna get em, don't you guys worry!
