Steering wheel change

I have a 1991 318is and im wondering if i can can change the wheel to a smaller one, but the thing is i need one with an airbag (for insurance purposes), the old wheels rubber or whatever it is is loose and moves when you hold the steering wheel (like its coming off the wheel frame or something).

first off, you cant change it to airbags without a SHITLOAD of money. And in the end it wont matter because its not from the factory with airbags. So it wont change insurence. Why would you want to use a smaller one anyway?

Mine already has an airbag but it's all crappy so I need one that isnt, and if i get like a momo one or something like it do I need an airbag? I live in CALIFORNIA so im not sure if its illegal for me to take it out or not, im thinking I dont need the airbag cuz i have 5-point harnesses, but im checking before I spend money.

yo i live in ca also, im not sure if it is absolutly needed to have a bag, not all cars do u kno. but u shuld look it up cuz i wana get a better wheel myself, mine is fine i jsut want a racing one u kno. do u ahve the 5-point harness on the stock seats?

IT CAN BE DONE WITH NO MODIFICATION. yeah i have the stock seats also.

air bags are a saftey FEATURE! they are not required. in CA, they dont care, only seatbelts are a law, if u dont like them, take them out...the insurance only asks if the car came with airbags, they dont ask if they work. are you really going to tell them u removed them??? they dont need to know that.
just send me the $$$$ then and ill buy beer.


personally, i hate them, ive used them, and have also hit the steering wheel in my first car at 80mph, (no airbag)
i liked it less with the airbag, besides the burns on ur face and arms, the smell will taint the car you were in for life.... it is one of those smells that u never forget.

doood just get a dope steering wheel, this one company alpina has a dope one i was checking out ist sweet, go 2 google and search for alpina and u will s it on their site.
