CaptDale n00b Join Date: Jul 2011 Location: Long Beach, CA Car: 1984 BMW 318i Posts: 49 Photos:	Starting Issues I have a '84 318i that I just had fixed for smog and such. Unfortunately, the car has been having trouble starting and I need to hold it at higher than idle revs to get the car to stay running. Also every now and then, the battery light flashes. Not sure if that has to do with the car not starting properly. The alternator light will just be a sign that the motor is struggling to idle at best (revs too low etc...)
Check the obvious - ICV, MAF and Throttle-Body for contamination, many topics on cleaning these mate.
Oops... Is yours the carb model?
