| It is slightly below, and towards the passenger side of the brake mastercylinder. It is mounted almost at the very top of the transmission. You will need a 16mm socket, a fairly long extension about 8" or so a 10mm 12 point socket and 10mm 12 point wrench.
It helps to remove the mass air sensor and intake boot from the front of the intake manifold. Dont forget to disconnect the power as the starter is wired directly to the battery so you will shock yourself if you dont. It is held in place by two bolts that mount through the transmission bellhousing. Getting it off is tricky, getting it back on is very tricky. I ended up taping the nuts into the socket so I could thread them throug the hoses and up into place without them falling off. I found it easiest to tighten the lower starter bolt from below. And the top starter bolt I used a 10mm 12 point wrench hanging from a string to get it into place from above between the rear of the engine, and the firewall.
Good luck. If you are in the Houston area I would be happy to help. |
